The engraving on gravestones usually bear inscriptions and epitaphs in praise of the deceased. This generally includes the name of the deceased and their date of birth and death. An epitaph is a short text honouring a deceased person and is inscribed on their gravestone or plaque. Most epitaphs are brief records of the family of the deceased, often with an expression of love or respect. Religious texts also form part of such epitaphs.
