De Hoop Quarry
Our quarry on the slopes of Paarl Mountain is the oldest operational granite quarry in southern Africa. The De Hoop farm quarry was opened in 1906 and has been operative for more than a century. In 1975 the Paarl Municipality set a limit to the size of the quarry, so today the quarry only produces granite for our own needs. Paarl’s Mediterranean climate is ideally suited to the cultivation of grapes and olives. De Hoop farm produces tablegrapes for the export market, Shiraz wine, olives and olive oil.
